2017 HAS BEEN AN YEAR OF GREAT DECISIONS
At the beginning of our 2017 school year, we have improved our services by hiring a new full-time teacher. This opportunity has been given to our part-time teacher who has taught with us for the past six months. She was one of our very first students when our school project began with the Associazione Fabio Jonathan Onlus GL. Who better to give this opportunity to, as she has grown along with this project, she has reaped the rewards, understands the challenges, has the dedication to our cause and the potential to become Principal, in the future. She is currently taking pertinent coursework for teachers, to increase her knowledge.
Of course, challenges continue to arise, even amongst good deeds: three teachers have left us. One moved to Colombo, after getting married, and two others went on to fulfil their teaching desires in other locations, unfortunately, they took some of enrolled students with them. However, when one door closes a new, and better one, in this case opens!!
One for her marriage and move to Colombo where she will live with her husband, two of them to teach on payment to some of our students in a rented place.
Children of really poor families are still with us and we have had to start again finding new children.
Today we have 64 children (seven more compared before), two new local teachers and a mother tongue one (four in all).
One door closes and another one opens!
On June the 4th, in honour of Jonathan’s birthday, we placed the first stone to build the first part of our project “A school in Sri Lanka”. A beautiful villa, named “Butterfly Villa” is currently being rented out to tourists, in order to fundraise and generate income in Sri Lanka, for the intended new Butterfly Villa has been built on the smallest land bought later then the one where we will build the school.

After three months of hard work we have seen Butterfly Villa finished and it is … Lassanai! (very beautiful!)
We have arranged a website for it, registered it on Booking, Airbnb, HomeAway, made links among the school website, Facebook, Instagram.
Good, immediately after a joy a problem arise: three teachers have left us.

Most probably on June the 4th 2018 we will pose the first stone for the school building.
Once completed, Butterfly Villa will not be rented anymore to tourists but used as a school activities center. We will realise a swimming pool in the garden and on the roof terrace we will build two rooms with private bathroom to offer to the English mother teachers volunteers.
At Butterfly Villa Activity Center we will offer FOR FREE: swimming, theatre, painting, pottery, cook, yoga classes to our children and to all those who will like to.
Absolutely all in English.
The full year has been focused on this.
